The GPC is in the early stages of developing a proposed response to GAO’s recommendations about the timeliness of Grants.gov applications and would like to gather early input from stakeholders. The purpose of this outreach effort is to provide a mechanism for the applicant community to submit topics or a list of topical issues and major challenges that impact individuals/organizations' ability to submit grant applications in a timely fashion. States and local governments are already addressing these issues head-on and have identified many innovative approaches.  Partner4Solutions.gov is an opportunity for taxpayers, program participants, and Federal, State, and Local program administrators to provide their input and begin a dialogue to better understand some of the on-the-ground best practices in this area.

 

This website is also a central element in meeting the transparency and collaboration principles of Executive Order 13520 – “Reducing Improper Payments and Eliminating Waste in Federal Programs.”

Recovery Board to Release All Recovery Recipient Data Reports

 On Friday, Oct. 30, the Recovery.gov website will be updated to reflect more than 131,000 recipient data reports on federal contracts, grants and loans awarded through Sept. 30, 2009, under Recovery spending initiatives. All reports were to be filed by Oct. 10, but the Recovery Board extended the deadline by 10 days to help smooth this first-ever reporting process.  Since that time, federal agencies and recipients have been working to improve the accuracy of  reports.  Although agencies can highlight areas where the information in the reports may be missing or in error, only recipients can change their reports.  Changes are allowed until midnight tonight (10/29); after that, no further changes will be made until the next reporting period in January 2010.

 

On Oct. 15, recipient reports on federal contracts, which constitute only a small portion of the total Recovery spending, were posted on Recovery.gov.  Some of that data will change on Oct. 30 as a result of corrections made by recipients. But the major difference will be the addition of a huge amount of new data for federal grant awards.  The website also will offer a number of improvements to assist in interpreting the data.  Chief among them is the ability to download files containing contract, grants and loans data in .XML, .CSV, and .XLS formats.  Previously, the data was available for download only in .CSV.

 

Although by law, the Recovery Board has until midnight Friday, Oct. 30, to post the recipient reports, every effort is being made to have the new information available on Recovery.gov earlier that day.

 

 

Some of the additions available starting tomorrow (10/30) on www.recovery.gov include:

 

1.       Search – there will be an advanced search capability.

2.       Download Center – You’ll be able to download by excel, xml, and csv files. Nationwide summaries, statewide summaries, nationwide change files, and nationwide late reporters.

3.       New state summary pages

4.       New Late reporting page

5.       New Data change page

6.       New Diversity map

7.       New charts and graphs expanded with all contract, grant and loan data
